A beautiful piece of Americana, The US.Steam Ship "Baltic" 1850 - Framed lithograph by Nathaniel Currier (1813 - 1888), before he partnered with James Ives. I recently received a verbal appraisal of $700 - $800. I have had no other appraisals.Unfortunately a previous owner glued the lithograph to a piece of wood, so it has been subject to some acid damage and has some foxing, though the appraiser said that it was in good condition and the colors preserved well. The Baltic was a wooden-hulled sidewheel steamer with the American Collins Line, which held the Blue Riband from 1851 to 1856. I bellieve it was the first US mail steam ship.In the frame it measures about 26 1/2 " X 20".I can make the lithograph available for in person inspection to people in the Reno, NV, Sacramento, CA, or San Francisco Bay area.My parents purchased this lithograph in Boston in 1956. It has been in our family home since. It was reframed about 14 years ago.
